I was born in the Seattle area and I come from a family of artists. After high school I worked for an engraving company making diplomas, then in 1977 I took a stained glass class and that was it, I was hooked.
I started out making windows for houses my husband was building and eventually went to work for Glassworks, a Seattle-area studio. It was there I perfected my skills as a fabricator, learned production techniques and sandblasting, as well as packing, shipping and installation of glasswork. Because we traveled around the country installing glasswork in restaurants I also learned a lot about dealing with adverse situations and how to handle the unexpected surprises.
I left in 1985 to do my own thing, designing, fabricating and installing all my own work. I find the challenge and opportunity for growth to be unending, not only artistically but personally and spiritually.
The last few years I have been exploring the realm of fused or kiln formed glass. This is a whole new world for me creatively to "color outside the lines" so to speak as there are literally no lead lines. I love the free-formity of fusing , as well as the unlimited possibilities using both colored as well as clear glass. I will always work, and play, with glass, and will always be exploring new ways to combine these techniques.
I have over the years considered other possible vocations but I always come to the indisputable conclusion that this is what I do because this is what I love. I am never bored, there is always a new challenge and I meet lots of interesting people.
